Week 1, 2023-24

Welcome to Little Athletics for the 2023-24 Season. We’re so excited to be heading back to Landy Field on Saturday morning.

Bib collection & volunteer sign-up

We will have competition bibs at the red South Barwon tents for everyone who registered (and in the case of new families, provided their proof of age documentation) before the end of Wednesday. These bibs are worn throughout the season at Landy Field as well as at regional and state events.

All competitors will need to be accompanied to the bib collection point by a parent or guardian, as we will have the duty rosters available for the pre-Christmas events. Each family needs to commit to two pre-Christmas volunteering shifts. Those who don’t select their own dates in the first two weeks will be assigned a slot on the duty roster – which this year will be displayed on a white board at the South Barwon tent.

We still need a couple more adult volunteers for this Saturday too. If you can help, please let us know on Facebook.

Uniform sales

On our competition days at Landy Field, all South Barwon athletes compete in our red and blue uniforms. There’s a range of options to choose from, and we will have some samples on display and for sale at our tent on October 7. If you’d like to purchase beforehand and beat the rush, please send us a message on southbarwonathletics@gmail.com or via our Facebook page.

Remember, all uniform tops need to have a Coles patch sewn on. We will have these available at the tent on Saturday.

Events

OnTrackers, the program for our U6s and U7s, will start at around 8.30am. The weather’s looking good for Saturday so far, but be sure to follow our Facebook page where we’ll post updates if there are cancellations or changes.

If you have any questions about Little Athletics, the South Barwon Little Athletics Club or how the season will run, feel free to come and talk to us at the tent. We’re so pleased to have so many athletes signed up to compete for South Barwon this year. Have a great season, everyone!

8 Days to Go!

There’s just over a week to go until we run and jump our way into Little Athletics season 2023-2024! To ensure we’re all ready to go on October 7, we’ve just got a few reminders:

Registration

If you’re a returning family or if you’re new and ready to register, please do so as soon as possible. The GLAC team need time to organise and print out your bib, so that you can see your results recorded on ResultsHQ from the first day of the season. The bibs for those who register in time will be available to pick up from the South Barwon tent on October 7.

Returning families will have received instructions on how to register again via email, and new families can complete registration as a member of South Barwon by filling in this registration form, selecting Geelong Little Athletics Centre as the Centre and then South Barwon as the club.

Uniforms

On our competition days at Landy Field, all South Barwon athletes compete in our red and blue uniforms. There’s a range of options to choose from, and we will have some samples on display at our tent on October 7. If you’d like to purchase beforehand and beat the rush, please send us a message on southbarwonathletics@gmail.com or via our Facebook page.

Remember, all uniform tops need to have a Coles patch sewn on. These will be available at Landy Field early in the season.

Volunteering

Little Athletics is a community-run activity and we need help from families throughout the season to full South Barwon’s volunteering shifts on the Long Jump and Back Straight. This year, we will have a whiteboard at the tent where you can sign up to do your shifts in the weeks ahead. If you are available to help out in the first week, please get in touch via email or Facebook. Everything you need to know can be quickly learnt on the first day!

Thanks everyone. We’re looking forward to another great season and can’t wait to see you all at Landy Field soon!
