What a wonderful first week of the season we had! The sun was out and it was great to see our new and returning members taking to the track and giving their best efforts. You can see some photos from Saturday on our website gallery HERE.
We’ve transitioned to Digital Results this year. Geelong Little Athletics Centre publishes these weekly via ResultsHQ. If you need help logging in to see the results, please check your email inboxes (and spam folders) for an email from GLAC which includes instructions on how to access.
This week is Program 2 and is another qualifying week for our Geelong Relay teams for those athletes aged 9 and up. Over the next couple of weeks, athletes will be invited via email to join the Geelong teams depending on their times in the sprint events (100m, 200m and 400m). Relays are coordinated at a centre level, rather than by South Barwon, but if you have any questions about how they are run, please don’t hesitate to come by the South Barwon area this weekend.
Also, if you still need uniform, we will have sizes available to try each Saturday morning until October 31. All uniform items will be available for purchase using cash or card. If you have old uniform that you would like to donate or sell, please see the Stack Team App for more information.

What an incredible way to kick off the season. Well done, Magali, Patience, Emmett and Lennox. Your South Barwon family is proud of you, and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the season brings!
Training
Thanks to the generous support of JJ’s Track Squad, South Barwon is able to offer free training sessions to our registered athletes this year. Please see the email sent out to all members this week for times and dates of our training sessions.

Athletes of the week
For those new to the club, each week we present an award to an athlete who embodies the values we love to see in our juniors; determination, teamwork, and a positive attitude.
Thanks to our generous sponsor McDonald’s Belmont, the recipient receives a Maccas voucher to celebrate their efforts.
This week, the South Barwon Committee is proud to recognise these five athletes: for cheering on the On Trackers and displaying the South Barwon Spirit. This weeks awards goes to (Left to Right): Hazel McLean, Issy Ross, Kayley McDougall, Skylah Cannon and Magali Flynn.
If you see an athlete displaying our values during competition, please point them out to a Committee member so we can provide the recognition that they deserve!
Volunteers
Athletics can’t happen without the support of our parents and carers, and all families are required to volunteer a minimum of 3 duties per season. But don’t worry, we have a chief in charge at each event who will show you what is required and be there to help all the way through the day.
