We hope that our athletes have had a great start to the school year, and look forward to welcoming everyone back to Landy Field on Saturday morning. We’re back to the regular timetable this week, with first calls for our U8+ athletes from 8am and OnTrackers starting at approximately 8.30am.
Congratulations to all our South Barwon athletes who received their medals for the Geelong LAC combined events last Friday, to Patience C for her fantastic throws results at the Country Championships and to Emmett E who broke a GLAC discus record that had been in place since 1983. Check out our Facebook page for photos and more information about their achievements.
This week
With only four weeks of normal competition at Landy Field before the end of the season, we’re back to Program 1 on Saturday.
Regional Track and Field Carnival: 7 & 8 February
Next weekend will be the Regional Track and Field Carnival at Goldsworthy Reserve in Corio for athletes who have registered. There will be no competition at Landy Field on the Saturday.
If your athlete has registered, please check your inbox for an email from Geelong Little Athletics Centre with information about the duty rosters and other details about the event. At Regional events, athletes compete in the Geelong Little Athletics Centre uniform, not in South Barwon uniform. If you need to purchase GLAC uniform items, please visit the competition office on Saturday. You will need to wear your normal competition bib at regionals.
South Barwon uniforms and bibs
While we will no longer have South Barwon uniform items to try on at Landy Field on Saturdays, you can always contact us on southbarwonathletics@gmail.com to order any uniform items you need. Alternatively, you can follow the links on the Uniform page on our website.
We will still have our South Barwon visors available for sale until stocks run out – so get in quick to claim yours and help us raise funds for the Good Friday Appeal.
Volunteering
AAthletics can’t happen without the support of our parents and carers, and all families are required to volunteer a minimum of 3 duties per season. If you are yet to sign up or haven’t signed up for you minimum 3 duties please do so. We have a chief in charge at each event who will show you what is required and be there to help all the way through the morning.
Thank you to our week 11 volunteers. We need 1 emergency and 1 Long Jump Assistant for this Saturday 31st January, week 12. These upcoming weeks would be a good opportunity to help out and join our volunteer community.
Simply click through to our sign up form now or scan on the QR code at the volunteer table this Saturday to nominate your preferred duty and date.
