2025-26 Week 7 Update

Well done to all our South Barwon athletes who competed in the Regional Relay Championships in Williamstown last weekend. It was great to see the teamwork and determination on display, and those batons passing smoothly around the track. Thanks to all the coaches, officials and parents who made the event happen.

This week, we’re back at Landy Field – though we’ll be missing a few of our athletes, who are currently competing in the School Sport Australia track and field championships. Congratulations and all the best to Georgia, Emily, Skylah, Kayley, and Lennox. We’re all cheering you on!

This week

This week at Landy Field, it’s Program 2, which means walks are back on the timetable. Please ensure athletes knees are showing if they want to compete in this event.

We have two more weeks of competition (29 November and 6 December), before having a week off for State Relays (13 December). Our last competition of the year, on December 20, will be a normal session for OnTrackers and a Combined Event for those aged U9 and up. This is a great practice opportunity for those athletes going to the LAVic State Combined event in January.

For the full season program, please see the Geelong Little Athletics Centre website

South Barwon uniforms and bibs

While we will no longer have South Barwon uniform items to try on at Landy Field on Saturdays, you can always contact us on southbarwonathletics@gmail.com to order any uniform items you need. Alternatively, you can follow the links on the Uniform page on our website.

We will still have our South Barwon visors available for sale until stocks run out – so get in quick to claim yours and help us raise funds for the Good Friday Appeal.

Athlete of the Week: Grace K

For those new to the club, each week we present an award to one athlete who embodies the values we love to see in our juniors – determination, teamwork, and a positive attitude. Thanks to our generous sponsor McDonald’s Belmont, the recipient receives a voucher to celebrate their efforts.

This week, our Athlete of the Week goes to one of our OnTrackers, Grace. Grace stood out during the 400m run, giving it her absolute best from start to finish. Even though she wasn’t near the front runners, she kept smiling, stayed determined, and showed true enthusiasm for the event.

After the race, Grace was excited and proud to be recognised for her efforts — a wonderful reminder that achievement isn’t only about winning, but about trying hard, staying positive, and enjoying the experience.

Volunteering

Athletics can’t happen without the support of our parents and carers, and all families are required to volunteer a minimum of 3 duties per season. If you are yet to sign up or haven’t signed up for you minimum 3 duties please do so. We have a chief in charge at each event who will show you what is required and be there to help all the way through the morning.
