2025-26 Week 6 Update

Thanks to all our athletes and volunteers for another awesome day at the track last Saturday. The sun was shining, and it was great to see so many of the relay teams staying on to practice after the final event. We wish you all the best in the Regional competitions this month! You can see photos from last week’s events on our Facebook and Instagram pages.

A reminder to all community members: Little Athletics is not a drop-off sport. Athletes from all age groups need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian at the track at all times.

This week: Coles Community Round

This week we will be doing Program 3 events, and it’s Coles Community Round. Coles is a long standing supporter of Little Athletics. For this special event, we encourage all our athletes to come with a touch more red – think hair accessories, hats, glasses, face-paint, etc. Geelong Little Athletics have invited some special guests to join the fun, and from 8am South Barwon will be holding a special warm up and photo session (which may or may not involve committee members in banana costumes). See you there!

South Barwon uniforms and bibs

While we will no longer have South Barwon uniform items to try on at Landy Field on Saturdays, you can always contact us on southbarwonathletics@gmail.com to order any uniform items you need. Alternatively, you can follow the links on the Uniform page on our website.

We will still have our South Barwon visors available for sale until stocks run out – so get in quick to claim yours and help us raise funds for the Good Friday Appeal.

Athlete of the Week: Brock C

For those new to the club, each week we present an award to one athlete who embodies the values we love to see in our juniors – determination, teamwork, and a positive attitude. Thanks to our generous sponsor McDonald’s Belmont, the recipient receives a voucher to celebrate their efforts.

This week’s Athlete of the Week goes to Brock, who showed outstanding club spirit and leadership. Brock arrived bright and early at 7am with Chris and jumped straight in to help Kane set up the On Trackers section.

His enthusiasm, willingness to help, and positive attitude helped create a great experience for our youngest athletes — a true example of what community and teamwork are all about!

Volunteering

AtAthletics can’t happen without the support of our parents and carers, and all families are required to volunteer a minimum of 3 duties per season. But don’t worry, we have a chief in charge at each event who will show you what is required and be there to help all the way through the day.

Thank you for our week 5 volunteers. We still need one volunteer for Saturday 8 November. This would be a good opportunity to help out and join our volunteer community.

Simply click through to our sign up form now or scan on the QR code at the volunteer table this Saturday to nominate your preferred duty and date.
