Thanks to all our athletes for another excellent event last Saturday. The winds got a bit wild at the end, so if you’ve noticed anything missing over the week, please check out the Lost Property at the Competition office. You can see photos from last week’s competition on our Facebook and Instagram pages.
Congratulations to all our South Barwon athletes who have done so well at Regional and State school athletics events over the past couple of weeks. Medals have been won, records have been broken, and I’m sure you’ve made your schools very proud!
Congratulations also go to our U9-U16 athletes who have been invited to represent Geelong in the centre’s relay teams. Please respond to your invitation as soon as possible so the teams can be finalised for each age group.
This Week
This week at Landy Field, we’re back to Program 1. Please join the Geelong Little Athletics community on the Stack Team App for the list of first events. First calls for events will be from 8am.
If you still need uniform, we will have all sizes available to try at the South Barwon area on Saturday morning. All uniform items will be available for purchase using cash or card.
A reminder to all our families that it is compulsory to have a Coles patch sewn (or stuck with fabric glue) on all uniform t-shirts and singlets. We are unable to share photos of athletes who do not have Coles patches on their uniform.
Please remember to bring your competition bib each week as there is a charge to have these reprinted. We would suggest keeping your bibs in the glove box in the car, or just taking them off while you wash the uniforms and pinning them back on straight afterwards. (Please don’t put bibs in the wash!)
Athlete of the Week: Lennox J
For those new to the club, each week we present an award to one athlete who embodies the values we love to see in our juniors — determination, teamwork, and a positive attitude.
Thanks to our generous sponsor McDonald’s Belmont, the recipient receives a voucher to celebrate their efforts. This week’s Athlete of the Week goes to Lennox J. During his warm-up, Lennox took a fall, hurting his arm and hip. Despite the setback, he refused to give up and went on to compete – not only finishing strong but also breaking the U12 Geelong Hurdles record! Well done Lennox.

thletics can’t happen without the support of our parents and carers, and all families are required to volunteer a minimum of 3 duties per season. But don’t worry, we have a chief in charge at each event who will show you what is required and be there to help all the way through the day.
Thank you for our week 3 volunteers. We are still needing six volunteers for next week, Saturday 25 October. This would be a good opportunity to help out and join our volunteer commuity.
In your newsletter, you will find a link to our volunteer sign up form, or you scan on the QR code at the volunteer table this Saturday to nominate your preferred duty and date.
