Third generation joins South Barwon

While Geelong Little Athletics Centre celebrates its 60th Anniversary at our twilight meet this coming Friday, South Barwon has its own special milestone to acknowledge: Jonah, who has joined OnTrackers with the club this season, is following the footsteps of his grandfather, mother and aunt who also competed for South Barwon.

Lindsay Cameron, Jonah’s grandfather, is a South Barwon life member. He was a South Barwon athlete in the 1960s, who went on to later become the South Barwon Athletics Club President.

Kelly Cameron, Jonah’s mum, was a South Barwon athlete from 1996 to 2005. She received a special award from LAVic for never missing an event in 9 years – 675 consecutive events. As well as this impressive statistic, Kelly was Club Champion over three seasons, and her name can still be found in our SBLAC club records.

It’s been great seeing Jonah enthusiastically join in with our OnTrackers program so far – and we wish him all the very best for his ongoing involvement in the club!
